If you didn't already know, the upcoming Chinese New Year marks the year of the dragon.

And that's as good a reason as any to put up three huge dragon sculptures in The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands (MBS).

The dragons watched over MBS' Chinese New Year light-up event as huge crowds gathered at all available vantage points.

According to MBS' website, the light-up event featured a "medley of festive musical and dance performances" and was scheduled for 7:30pm on Feb. 6.

However, people had already begun taking up their positions from before 7pm.

Some of those present told Mothership that they had intended to catch the now-postponed dragon drone show originally scheduled for today (Feb. 6) at 8pm.

One said they wanted to soak in some "good luck", and decided to attend the light-up instead.
