The Straits Times has reported that PAP Bukit Batok MP David Ong, who resigned from the People's Action Party (PAP) on Saturday, March 12, cited "personal indiscretion" as the reason for his resignation.

He was quoted as saying:

"There is personal indiscretion on my part which I deeply regret. I would appreciate if you can give me and my family the privacy to heal and rebuild."

He also said resigning was the right thing to do to as it is in the best interests of his party, constituents and family.

He also pleaded with the media for privacy for his family.

According to Lianhe Zaobao, Ong said: "I will be very grateful if everyone can give my family members and me some space, so that we can heal the pain and start afresh."
