Sometimes a trip to Sungei Buloh is fun, educational and ends with numerous mosquito bites and an unglamorous tan.
Other times you meet the world's most largest venomous snake, back the hell away, and get to watch it swallow the juvenile form of world's second largest lizard.
That's precisely what happened to photographer Melinda Chan, who came across a King Cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) devouring an unfortunate Asian Water Monitor (Varanus salvator).
For the record, both animals can attain lengths of 5.5m and 3m respectively.
Fortunately for the snake this time, its prey was a relatively puny baby lizard.
And of course you would film it down. Who wouldn't?
The result is a three-minute Facebook video that is strangely hypnotic (keep looking at the cobra's eyes) and worthy of any David Attenborough narration.
Usually, the King Cobra's diet consists of other live snakes (Ophiophagus means "snake-eater"), so this is pretty fascinating.
Good job, Melinda.

If you do ever come across a King Cobra in the wild, stay a safe distance from it and wait till it has crossed your path. Take a detour if necessary. Do not, in any circumstances, attempt silly acts like simultaneous provocation and macrophotography.
You may not survive the encounter.
