The quiet tranquility of the west side of Singapore was momentarily interrupted after a reticulated python and a king cobra engaged in unarmed combat near the Research Techno Plaza in the Nanyang Technological University on Aug. 27, 2015.

Onlookers watched as the two serpents duked it out, with both sides locked up in a submission hold as the drive to survive kicked in:

The fight ended after the cobra escaped into the bushes and the NTU pest control stepped in to break up the tense situation to prevent both sides from re-engaging each other.

The python was taken into custody.
