We tried getting friends who could read Tamil to translate what was written there into English for us, but it was pretty much impossible.
Thankfully, though, we received the following message from their Communications manager in the evening:
"Dear Mothership,
We would like to respond to your report about our translation gaffe.
We apologise for the error and have taken immediate action to ensure that the banner never sees the light of day again.
Thank you."
We sure hope it won't, and we also hope our Tamil-reading friends won't have to endure any further weirdness from (really) poorly-translated messages like these.
By the way, we hope this apology was for them — also, here's hoping you guys remember to loop in one of your Vasantham colleagues when writing any Tamil on any of your signs or banners in future.
