A couple of young chaps from the National University of Singapore spent one Sunday morning recently in late February 2015 exploring Istana Woodneuk, one of the places you should visit in Singapore that is totally not touristy and totally off the beaten track.
Located off Holland Road, the dilapidated house residing on land that is believed to still be the property of the Sultan of Johor, can be seen via Google Maps.
Access to the property proper is limited as it is cut off from the main roads.
To get there, the pair found the small nondescript opening off Holland Road that anyone walking past would miss but which leads to a 300-metre forested footpath upslope.
And then they navigated some tricky terrain.
And then they were greeted by this sight after 15 to 20 minutes later.
And what lies inside.
You can read more about their mini adventure here.
For those who are still curious: Not too long ago, around August 2014, another blog post was written by someone else, who was a real tourist, with more photos. It shows the place to be what it is greater detail: Completely rundown and creepy as hell.
