Young S'porean transported back to the fateful moment on Aug. 9, 1965 when Lee Kuan Yew cried on TV

With clever video editing and some creativity.

There are the usual tribute videos to former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. And there's this.

Aptly titled "I looked carefully at the Lee Kuan Yew crying video from 1965 and I can't believe what I saw", the bittersweet video features an iPhone 6 and solves the mystery of how Mr Lee got that piece of tissue paper.

Shot by budding filmmaker Goh Ying Sheng, the video was created to honour Mr Lee's contributions to building modern Singapore. He also wrote that instead of looking back at what Singapore has achieved the last 50 years, Singaporeans should look ahead.

Here's his full note from the YouTube video's description.

There are many SG50 projects in Singapore, but I really wanted to do a video to commemorate the man we all know, Mr LKY.

And also let me say that, the people who created the hoax on Lee Kuan Yew death and Lee Kuan Yew funeral are absolutely disrespectful and downright rude.

We wish Lee Kuan Yew health and a speedy recovery.

I was thinking of how I can, within my capacity, do something and dedicate it to Singapore to celebrate our birthday this year.

Instead of just taking a trip down memory lane, I was thinking how we can be successful in the next 50 years.

Moving forward requires us to understand the vision we have right from the start.

And the start comes from the man we all know. And he is ill...

As an aspiring filmmaker, video comes naturally as a medium for me to connect the past, my present and our future, all in one.

With the support from colleagues at Grid Synergy, I have the opportunity to complete this little pet project. The credit goes to the production and post-production team. They amaze me.

Just like building Singapore, this project is not a one man show. Thank you Philip Wu for believing with me in Singapore's next 50 years for this little project, Gilbert Chan for your creative guidance and patience, Aaron for your top notch vfx skills, Evelyn Lau, Josephine and all my colleagues for the constant encouragement and support, I guess we call it "synergy".

And now, the man we all know.
