The Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan has written a new blog entry which revealed the name of a new bridge along the Marina Bay which links Merlion Park to the waterfront promenade in front of the Esplanade.

The bridge, named Jubilee Bridge, was built to commemorate 50 years of nation building.

It was open to public access "to facilitate the many Singaporeans who lined the Esplanade Bridge to bid farewell" to our Mr Lee Kuan Yew on 29 Mar.  It was originally meant to be opened only next month.

Khaw said that "as we use this new pedestrian bridge to enjoy Marina Bay, let’s reflect on the vision and the hard work of Mr Lee and our founding generation."

While the authorities did not go as far as to call this bridge the Lee Kuan Yew bridge, calling it the Jubilee Bridge seems close enough.
