"If Aljunied decides to go that way, well Aljunied has five years to live and repent."

Those were the words that many Singaporeans remembered about Lee Kuan Yew during the last General Election in 2011. Political pundits said Lee's words adversely affected the People's Action Party's electoral chances in Aljunied GRC.

What many did not know was that Lee e-mailed the defeated PAP Aljunied GRC team to apologise for his remarks after GE 2011.

This was revealed by former foreign minister George Yeo in Shin Min Daily News on Mar 24.

Yeo said that he did not mind Lee's "repent" words. He added that there were larger circumstances that led to the PAP team's defeat and Lee's words was not the main contributing factor to the electoral defeat.

How did the PAP Aljunied GRC team react to Lee's passing? Below is a glimpse of their collective grief of Lee's death on social media.
