The first prime minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew has passed away. He was 91.
His death was announced on March 23, 2015 at 3.18am on Monday.
Information about his ill health in early February was kept secret initially, before more regular updates were provided in the weeks leading up to his passing.
His final days were closely watched by the international media and the public was kept abreast of any changes to his health via the daily announcements from the Prime Minister's Office.
He is survived by his eldest son Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, youngest son Lee Hsien Yang, daughter Lee Wei Ling, six grandsons and one granddaughter, and two siblings.
