Everything you need to know about Lee Kuan Yew's State Funeral Procession in 60s

The Funeral Service for the late Lee Kuan Yew will be held at the University Cultural Centre (UCC), National University of Singapore from 2pm to 5.15pm today.

Below are 8 key facts about the State Funeral Procession and Funeral Service:

1) State Funeral Procession: It will be preceded by the State Funeral Procession from Parliament House to UCC. The Procession will commence at 12.30pm and cover a distance of 15.4km.

2) Live Telecast: Live telecast of the State Funeral Procession and State Funeral Service will be available on national television and radio, as well as online at www.rememberingleekuanyew.sg and www.facebook.com/rememberingleekuanyew. It will also be shown live at all 18 of People’s Association community tribute sites, and all community centres.

3) Distinct tributes from the three Services of the Singapore Armed Forces:

i) 21-gun salute by four ceremonial 25-pounder howitzers, usually reserved only for sitting Heads of State.

ii) The Republic of Singapore Air Force’s Black Knights will be flying a Missing Man Formation, where one aircraft will leave the four-aircraft flying formation as an aerial salute to honour Lee.

iii) Two Fearless-class Patrol Vessels (RSS Dauntless and RSS Resilience) from the Republic of Singapore Navy will be conducting a ceremonial sailpast in the waters off the Marina Barrage.

4) Eulogies: The Master of Ceremony for the Funeral Service will be Peter Ong, Head Civil Service. Ten eulogies will be presented in the following order:

1) Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong;

2) President Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam;

3) Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong;

4) Former Cabinet Minister Ong Pang Boon;

5) Former Cabinet Minister S. Dhanabalan;

6) Former Senior Minister of State Sidek Bin Saniff;

7) Trade unionist G. Muthukumarasamy;

8) Tanjong Pagar community leader Leong Chun Loong;

9) Former journalist Cassandra Chew; and

10) The late Mr Lee’s second son Lee Hsien Yang

5) Wreaths: Two wreaths will be laid by the Prime Minister and the President of Singapore.

6) SCDF Public Warning System siren: It will sound for 15 seconds at about 4pm to rally everyone in Singapore to observe a minute of silence. The siren will be sounded again to mark the end of the minute of silence.

Sunday, the SCDF Public Warning System siren will be sounded twice island wide around 4pm to signal the start and end of a minute of silence for the late Mr Lee. The public is advised not to be alarmed.

7) Mandai Crematorium: On the conclusion of the Funeral Service, the late Mr Lee will make his final journey to Mandai Crematorium. The cremation service will be private.
