In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it-because-it-got-taken-down press release from the Ministry of Manpower (the link is currently down), it was stated that the President has declared that 7 August 2015 be made a public holiday to enable Singaporeans to celebrate and commemorate Singapore's 50th birthday.
Before the press release was taken down, some quick-thinkers took a screen shot of the press release and uploaded it to the Hardwarezone Forums.
Here's the screenshot:
If this is true (it has to be true, half the Interwebz has seen this already), then it would be a four-day long-weekend for Singaporeans.
From the screenshot, it can be seen that there will be several programmes lined up during the period and not just the National Day Parade. So in the spirit of #SG50 (and #simisaialsoSG50), let's hope Singaporeans take the opportunity to enjoy the free programmes lined up, and not go on a holiday.
Who else is surprised that aside from shaking hands, and doing a Chow Yun Fatt comb-over, the President can actually declare public holidays? More, please!
