Here are some things that non-Chinese Singaporeans face every Chinese New Year:

1. Forgetting that it is CNY and wondering where everybody went

2. Having family meals at fast food chains

... because everything is closed

3. Would love to be 100% into CNY celebrations, but you can’t eat pork

5. When your friends’ parents give you an Ang Pao

6. When your friends tell you how much money they got for CNY

WHAT? YOUR AUNTIE GAVE YOU 50 DOLLARS????!!!!  YOUR FAMILY SO RICH AH???

And then... you realise $30 to $50 an Ang Pao is the norm, you then proceed to complain about how your close aunts and uncles give you only $10 (max) for Hari Raya. $12 if they happened to be blessed with a raise/ bonus that year.
