And another one bites the dust.

Japanese fashion label Lowrys Farm has confirmed they will be closing down all eight of its outlets by Chinese New Year on Feb. 18, 2015.

The label has eight outlets situated in prime locations throughout Singapore, including Suntec City Mall and 313@somerset.

The three-year-old fashion retailer, which was launched to much fanfare in March 2012, joins a list of Japanese brands that have died here. Skincare brand Fancl closed 13 stores in March 2014 and lifestyle store Francfranc closed down in May after a two-year run.

Lowry's Farm parent company, Adastria Holdings, will also shut down its other fashion label, Global Work.

A total of 150 jobs will be lost due to these closures.

However, Lowrys Farm will continue to operate globally, where there are more than 200 outlets.

A few factors could account for its demise: Their merchandise are pricier than other retailers, such as H&M. And there is a lack of interest from the young working adult segment that the brand is targeting, as they are selling casual clothing that might not be formal enough for the office.

Adastria Holdings spokesman Mika Takano told The Straits Times from Japan:

"The reason why we are closing our stores in Singapore is... we can't make enough sales because of climate difference and fashion taste."

And according to a staff from Lowrys Farm, the closure was announced in typical Japanese fashion (pun intended). According to ST:

"The Japan director came to HQ and to all the shops to tell the staff. He apologised and gave a speech," she said.

Staff were informed two months before hand about Lowrys Farm exiting Singapore's market.

Lowrys Farm is holding store-wide discounts for their merchandise.
