Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will host a live question-and-answer session on Facebook on Saturday Jan. 24, 2015 from 11.45am to 12.30pm.
The 45-minute session will see the public submit questions to the prime minister's Facebook page.
The PM said: “I will address as many (questions) as I can.”
Citizens of the Internet will naturally construe this statement as a challenge.
Here's a sample of the hard-hitting questions people are already asking:
Watch out, these look tough.
Moreover, this live chat is a momentous occasion in Singapore's history as it is PM Lee’s first live Facebook Q&A session since his personal Facebook page was set up in 2012.
His father, former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, would probably have scoffed at this idea as pandering to populist sentiments.
In 2011, PM Lee did host a web chat on the People Action Party’s (PAP’s) official Facebook page during the lead-up to the General Election.
The hour-long session then was held three days before the general election. The questions posed included hot button topics like transport and housing, including personal queries regarding the prime minister's marriage.
The PAP subsequently lost 39.9 percent of the votes that year.
It is also not known how the session this time round can be moderated as questions are expected to be coming from all quarters.
It remains to be seen if the CPF blogger that the prime minister is successfully suing for defamation will be making an appearance on the chat.
