In a news story high on followers and big on influence published in Sunday Life! on Jan. 4, 2015, what really stood out were words.

Of the four social media influencers interviewed by the newspaper, three of them -- Naomi Neo, Benjamin Toh and Xavier Ong -- gave soundbites so good, it got us wondering: "Are they the Dark Knights this country deserves?"

Specimen 1: Naomi Neo

Power level: more than 170,000 Instagram followers.

1."I'm an influencer because of my following and because I have the ability to influence how youth think. I impact their lives."

Channeling her inner Professor X.

2."...using my fame and power for good."

We heard Iron Man does that too.

3. "I tell my haters there is nothing wrong with dressing a certain way. It's up to me. It's my body. It's just boobs."

Wonder Woman, is that you?

Specimen 2: Xavier Ong

Power level: 12,000 Instagram followers.

4."I realised I have the ability to help them tide through whatever they are facing."

He founded a new kind of superpower - it's called tiding through. Maybe he's Aquaman!

5.  "With great influence comes great responsibility."

Uh oh, Spidey's gonna be real upset.

Specimen 3: Benjamin Toh

Power level: 37,000 Instagram followers, 76,000 views on his blog a month.

6. "It's not just about earning money or being popular. It's about using my influence in the right way."

You can say that again, Bruce Wayne.

7. "People say we just take free things and anyhow take photos. But we do spend a lot of time understanding the brand and editing pictures."
