Two amateur women fighters made their professional debuts and slugged it out on Nov. 7, 2014, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

And it was Singapore's Kirstie Gannaway who eventually beat another debutant, Malaysian Adek Omar, in front of more than 10,000 people.

The 23-year-old Gannaway, born here to an Australian father and a Singaporean mother, is a freelance graphic designer who is also the fourth Singaporean woman to become a professional MMA fighter.

She has eight years of boxing and five years of muay thai experience, as well as three years of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and MMA experience.

She joined Evolve MMA as a student in late 2013 and trained full time for little over a year before her skills promptly earned her a tryout with the professional Evolve Fight Team.

After a five-day tryout in July, she signed with Asia’s most prominent promotion ONE Fighting Championship (ONE FC) and was accepted into the Evolve Fight Team.

It is a high-pressure start as this is one of the biggest fight events in Asia.

Now also an assistant instructor at Evolve MMA, she is one of the most high-profile fighters after Nicole Chua, May Ooi and Sherilyn Lim.

Check out Gannaway's submission win over Malaysia's Adek Omar as she dominated the entire three-minute bout before using a triangle choke while trying to break her opponent's arm:
