Some 17,000 participants took part in the inaugural Hello Kitty Run at Sentosa on Nov. 1, 2014, where the mouth-less feline, who was revealed in August this year to be a little girl, celebrated her 40th birthday.

But plenty of participants who paid $65 and $75 to take part are upset with Pink Apple, the race organiser.
This was after the run was put on hold as it started to rain in the morning and runners claimed that there was a lack of contingency plans. Some complained about a lack of shelter that resulted in young children getting drenched, while others could not start the race at all.
This caused problems at the end of the race for those who finished, as the rain forced participants to congregate in a pavilion where the coveted Hello Kitty medal was given out for completing the 5km run, resulting in a lack of space.
And when the giving out of medals was moved to a more spacious area in Siloso beach, confusion ensued.
An announcement on the event's Facebook page that there might not be enough medals to go around caused the rush to worsen, with some participants claiming that some runners took more than one medal each.
It was also discovered later on that Hello Kitty run medals were being resold online.
Here are some of the gripes posted on the event's Facebook page:

A search on Carousell, an app that lets people resell items, showed Hello Kitty Run medals on sale for $35:
Race organiser Pink Apple apologised for the delays caused by the weather and said those who failed to collect their medals can do so on another day, which is yet to be announced.
Last year, the police were called to at least one McDonald's branch when Hello Kitty dolls in a skeleton outfit was launched as queue jumping caused tensions.
The McDonald's servers crashed when the promotion was moved online this year.
