What a steal.

The modus operandi of how some crafty people in Singapore bought and re-sold the latest iPhone 6 on launch day on Sept. 19, 2014, has been revealed.

It turns out, buying and getting rid of the latest phones from Apple -- the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus -- is even easier than frying an egg.

Here's how as explained in The Straits Times on Sept. 23, 2014:

Mr Hui, 30, had pre-booked three 128GB iPhone 6 Plus devices with SingTel. He then contacted 40 buyers he found on HardwareZone and met one at Raffles City, about 30 minutes after collecting his phones from SingTel's launch event at Marina Bay Sands last Friday.

He had renewed three contracts for himself and his parents to pay $746 for each phone. He then sold them at $2,200 each to the buyer, making a total profit of $4,362. The iPhone 6 Plus costs $1,448 without a contract.

Apparently, ready buyers can also be found on handphone shop websites such as Mobile Square and Sg Mobile.

And with the hard earned money in hand, the re-seller bought a 128GB iPhone 6 for $1,288 for his own use, which he pre-booked at an Apple retail store.

However, those late on the scene saw their profits plunge.

A 16GB iPhone 6 could have been resold for $1,200 last Friday, but resale prices plunged to as low as $1,030 by Monday, some three days later.

The 128GB iPhone 6 is also available at Far East Plaza, where it is going for $1,550, slightly more than the $1,288 original retail price without any contract.
