A Singaporean girl, Lynette Tan, has put up a blog post about her super budget travel across Europe, where she covered 10 countries and 33 cities under S$5,260 (£2,500).
She describes in detail how she allocated her money and time on transport and accommodation, including the various modes of transportation she took via train and bus, and also provided photographic evidence on her Instagram to prove that she pulled it off.
Via her blog post 30 Days, 1 Continent, 10 Countries, 33 Cities with less than £2,500. (Travelling on a Budget in Europe) published on July 28, 2014, here are some things you can make of her advice:
She obviously has travelling experience:
"It is my second time in Milan! I don't recommend you to stay more than 2days because there isn't much things to do in Milan really. Avoid eating at places near tourist attractions, just walk down the streets, you can find cheaper and better places that serves good food at a lower price."
And she dishes out worldly advice:
"Of all my destinations, Switzerland is the most expensive place. Buses can cost 9CHF (about S$12) per way. We stupidly got the tickets and realised that they didn't even check! Sometimes you really have to take the risk of not paying in order to save some money!"
These are the cities and countries she covered in a month, setting off from London, where she is studying:
London, England
Paris, France
Strasbourg, France
Colmar, France
Triberg, Germany
Konstanz, Germany
Interlaken, Switzerland
Iseltwald, Switzerland
Mürren, Switzerland
Meiringen, Switzerland
Milan, Italy
Como, Italy
Florence, Italy
Pisa, Italy
Cinque Terre, Italy
Rome, Italy
Venice, Italy
Burano, Italy
Hallstatt, Austria
Vienna, Austria
Berlin, Germany
Prague, Czech Republic
Budapest, Hungary
Lake Balaton, Hungary
Lesce Bled, Slovenia
Ljubljana, Slovenia
Zagreb, Croatia
Split, Croatia
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Zaanse Schans, Netherlands
Lübenau, Germany
However, she is not the first Singaporean to chronicle the super budget travelling experience across Europe.
Here are two other blog entries by other Singaporeans from January 2014:
S$1.9k. 6 cities. Europe. 24 days.
13 countries, 24 cities, for 50 days including Tomorrowland for S$3.9k
Correction (Aug. 3, 2014): Basel, Germany was removed from the list as it should have been Switzerland and also because Lynette has clarified that it was just a short stopover. The spelling for Zaanse Schans has also been amended.
