Roy Ngerng, the blogger who is being sued by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for defamation, said that his sacking from Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) today is "politically motivated".
This is after reports from Channel NewsAsia which noted the Ministry of Health (MOH)'s statements that it supports TTSH's decision to terminate Ngerng's contract. MOH added that his "actions show a lack of integrity and are incompatible with the values and standards of behaviour expected of hospital employees."
Ngerng had since removed his earlier Facebook post about his sacking and replaced it with a short statement that he had been fired.
The earlier post by Ngerng stated that he respected his supervisors' decision for terminating his contract because he had underperformed at work in recent months. Mothership.sg first covered Ngerng's original Facebook post in our article, It’s not World Cup season yet but blogger Roy Ngerng will not be sleeping tonight, it is also reproduced below:
Ngerng, 33, was employed as a patient coordinator at the TTSH's Communicable Disease Centre.
