Yes, she hasn't gone to confession for a while. But she still tries to read the Bible daily.
These are some of the candid revelations by Opposition MP Sylvia Lim during a dinner talk organised by CANA The Catholic Centre, which was reported by Catholic News, a fortnightly newspaper of the Singapore Catholic church.
The event, held on April 24, was part of a series of talk ("CANA's Talk of the Town"), which aims to have well-known personalities share how they integrate faith and life.
Lim's Catholic faith is well-known among those in the know.
In a 2003 The Straits Times interview, the Workers' Party Chairman shared that she "draws comfort from her Catholic faith" during her intense years as an opposition leader.
During her dinner talk at the Crossings Cafe, she shared a wee bit more.
A summary of how her faith influences her life:
1. Lim would pray if she had some major decisions to make.
2. On how she reconciles her faith with certain policies that may contradict it, she used death penalty as an example. She said that although WP did not call for the abolition of the dealth penalty (a stand by the Catholic church), it argued against it being mandatory.
3. Lim preferred to keep her faith private, saying that it was not in her nature to envangelise, as others may have their own religion which they are comfortable with.
4. Lim mentioned that her father was very influential in her life and shaped her character and thinking.

Her father, Lim Choon Mong, 77, started out in the police force, quit to study law in London, qualified as a lawyer at 39 and practised till he retired in 1996.
5. Lim was a choir singer at St Mary of the Angels Catholic church for many years.
CANA The Catholic Centre will be organising two more dinner talks with parliamentarians - PAP MP Christopher De Souza (22 May) and NMP Laurence Lien (19 June).
