This is not how you want to give notice and tender your resignation.

An assistant manager at a French bakery in Singapore has lost his job after he put up an insensitive poll on the fate of the missing Malaysia Airlines MH370.

On Wednesday morning, the 35-year-old, who wasn't named by the company, put up the poll to collect tips at the Artisan Boulangerie Compagnie (ABC), which is located at Asia Square.

Two plastic cups requesting customers to put in their tips to vote was accompanied with a sign that read: "What happen 2 MH370?".

One cup showed the plane in the clouds with the words "Still alive!" and the other cup showed a tail of a plane going down.

The poll-tip was carried out for a day and it drew negative responses from patrons.

One patron took a picture of the poll-tip and uploaded it onto ABC's Facebook page.

The company, which has five branches here, apologised on its Facebook page but did not name the assistant manager responsible.

But ABC said he worked for four months and has tendered his resignation.
