When: Chennai-based Sun TV reported in its news bulletin on Dec. 9 that the Little India riot last Sunday resulted in Singaporeans attacking South Indians.

What: The report stated that the Indian national who died and sparked the riot in Little India was pushed out of the bus by the female bus driver. The report then said that Singaporeans and Chinese attacked the foreign Indian nationals, who hid in their homes for fear of being harassed by the police or attacked by locals.

Why: Foreign Minister K Shanmugam said he went online to view the news bulletin himself and found the reporting to be "erroneous and irresponsible".

Who: Singapore's High Commissioner to India Lim Thuan Kuan has written to Sun TV Network regarding its reporting of Sunday's riot in Little India (see photo 1). Lim said that the news bulletin reported three "entirely false" points. He also asked for "an immediate correction" on Sun TV's online and broadcast channels.

Developing story: According to The New Paper, Sun TV's editor in charge of news Uma Shankar said he was unable to comment. He said he needed to check the facts with the sub-editor who had written the report.

Channel NewsAsia reported that Sun TV said that it has aired the correct version of the news last night on its 7pm news bulletin (9.30pm Singapore time). Sun TV News said it is also replying to High Commissioner Lim.
