Just as you were thinking how hard you had to struggle to come up with some fresh and thoughtful gift idea for your spouse or children because they've got everything they ever wanted, you will thank your lucky stars you didn't have to buy Lim anything.
Because you need to get a load of what he already owns.
Regular people, you see, buy footballs and football video games. Lim? This festive season, he is planning on buying Valencia, the floundering Spanish football club to give them a financial lifeline, and at the same time, diversify his portfolio by making a personal investment in the club.
And this is on top of what he already owns.
Lim's investments in various sectors include the agribusiness, education, fashion, logistics, and food and beverage
Publicly known holdings in his portfolio include Wilmar International, Global Logistic Properties, FJ Benjamin Holdings and Informatics Education.
Lim also has two major projects in the southern Malaysian state. A medical hub project at Vantage Bay near Danga Bay and Motorsports City race track.
Lim, 60, is a former remisier who made his fortune in the stock market. He had previously attempted to buy England's Liverpool Football Club for £320 million in late-2010 but lost out to the owners of the Boston Red Sox, New England Sports Ventures.
He is prepared to sink in anywhere between S$50 to S$80 million to buy Valencia on the cheap with the Singapore dollar $1.70 to the euro now.
