According to media reports, a riot that broke out along the junction of Race Course Road and Hempshire Road was ongoing at the area from 9.23pm, the police has confirmed.
Police cars were overturned and an ambulance was set on fire.
Police officers in riot gear were deployed.
The cause of the riot is believed to have been started after a Bangladeshi worker was hit by a bus earlier and first responders were believed to be attending to the victim at the time.
Columns of thick black smoke can be seen rising from the scene. And photographs uploaded online show that an ambulance and police car has been set on fire.
According to Instagram user Jollyjov, four police cars were overturned. Police Special Operations Command vehicles have also been deployed at the scene.

Acting Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin posted the following comments on his Facebook page:
Arrests have been made.
The Police indicated that they have the situation under control.
