If The Straits Times is anything to go by, diamond prices are rising faster than it takes F1 cars to go from 0-100km/h.
More expensive diamonds + demanding girlfriend + trying to give your girlfriend the best = super deep pockets required. Or death.
For those not in the know (i.e. marriageable age), people can pay between $5,000 to $7,000 for a single half carat sparkler that is a normal round cut with no extras. (At least that is what I hear from my friends.)
For a cheaper alternative, you can go online.
Buying engagement rings online may seem like a risky business, but those who have tried it reported a good experience and tons of $$$ saved.
Here are several excellent reasons to turn your skeptical nay into an aye. Go on. Give it a go.
1. You don’t have to forego your HDB down payment to buy that sparkler
Introducing the $50k 1ct diamond ring.
Honey? I spent all the money on your ring so now we have to live in a tent.
2. The salesman won’t give you the evil eye for not buying anything
Oh, you’ll come back in 26 months? I totally believe you
3. It sounds 10x better when you say your ring came from Hong Kong, or the US.
Look at my fabulous diamonds. Yes, look at them.
4. And suddenly, a world of choices!
Because round cut is so passé.
5. More bang for your buck
Introducing the $8,000 1.25 carat diamond ring
What??? Impossible!!!
6. The best part… You can get it insured
Always ask for tracking and get the seller to insure the package.
Insurance can be covered for up to the full price!
