Whether it is pure coincidence or marketing smarts, we can't be too sure.
But Samsung pushed out a promotional video early this week for its mobile phone starring the inimitable Mary Ho, a local 77-year-old blues guitar-playing grandmother.

It is part of Samsung's inspiring Companion Stories video series.
And the beginning of this week was right at the start of the second tranche of the highly-anticipated month-long City Harvest Church trial where Singapore's only music minister, Sun Ho, was thrust back into the spotlight.
Regardless, well played, Samsung.
Mary Ho, hailed as The Grandma of Rock, has quite a decent following and admirers. Her YouTube video showing her playing the blues has been viewed more than 800,000 times.
Considering she didn't spend that much money promoting herself. Or feature any geishas.
For those of you who still watch television, you'd have seen Grandma Mary making the rounds on the local television circuit, such as the recent The Final 1 singing/ popularity competition. And she plays for charity.
Check out her videos. Those bends, tones and sustain. Them feels. Oh, she started playing the guitar when she was in her 60s.
