The hashtag #ndrsg was trending globally due to Singapore's mobile Internet penetration rate and heavy social media usage.
So how do the young-Singaporenas-cum-social-media-addicts experience the National Day Rally when they live their lives vicariously via spaces such as Twitter?
Pretty darn funnily.
#1 They know what colour is PM Lee's shirt this year without even turning on the TV.
#2 They know the main points of PM Lee's speech even though they are reading his fake Twitter account.
#3 They will know that Singapore is aiming to go green at all cost.
#4 They believe there is something fishy going on between Mr Brown and MP Baey Yam Keng.
#5 And then they understand that it is actually because MP Baey Yam Keng has a selfie addiction.
#6 They know how individual MPs travel to the ITE College Central.
#7 They know what is the immediate reaction to the NDR speech based on the word on the street.
#8 They know that PM Lee spoke for a very long time.
#9 They know that race is still a sensitive topic in Singapore.
#10 They know that PM was a good orator.
#11 They also know the quirky habits of other Ministers.
#12 They know that PM spoke with fantastic powerpoint slides.
