Minister of State for Transport Josephine Teo, who is also the Chairperson of the Changi 2036 steering committee, gave details on the plans for Changi Airport Terminal 5 yesterday. Below is a summary of the plans:

1. According to MOS Josephine Teo on her FB, Changi Terminal 5 will be “one of the largest terminals in the world”. Terminal 5 alone will be able to handle 50 million passengers per year.

2. Terminal 5 will be linked to the other terminals via an underground train system. It will boast amenities such as hotels, events spaces and a business office park.

3. Terminal 5 will be built on 1,080 hectares of reclaimed land in Changi East. It is an area separated by Changi Coast Road.

4. Two conceptual options for the layout of Terminal 5 have been developed with various considerations: passenger convenience, efficient aircraft movement and terminal operations. The layout will be finalised in the first half of 2014. The two options below
