These clips show SDP chief Chee Soon Juan (and his daughters) could be the real guitar hero

Clip 2, especially, is a rare tender moment he shares with his eldest daughter.

Some of you might remember reading that Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) secretary-general Chee Soon Juan has quite a musical family — and that showed on Saturday evening, at the party's 35th anniversary dinner.

It was a grand affair attended by about 300 guests, party members and supporters, and both Chee and noted academic and potential pretty much confirmed candidate Paul Tambyah made rousing rally-like speeches.

(By the way, some of you were wondering if SDP founder Chiam See Tong was invited — yes, he was, and tribute was made to him at the beginning, but chairman Jeffrey George said he couldn't make it.)

What in our view was the real highlight, though, played out in these two clips we recorded from the night's proceedings:

Here's him strumming his guitar gaily as his two teenage girls (An Lyn, 16, and E Lyn, 13) harmonise each other in singing and playing a cover of McFly's "All About You" — and by the way, that's a song from the year 2005:

And here's him sharing a moving moment with An Lyn, performing South Korean pianist Yiruma's "Kiss the Rain" with An Lyn on keyboard:

We do know that Chee got his children, which also includes 11-year-old Shaw Hur, a boy, on the piano from between five and six years old, but the fact that he and his daughters are guitar heroes is new, and pretty impressive, to us too.

More at the SDP rallies during the coming hustings, perhaps?
