Amos Yee, the 17-year-old teenager who made remarks about Lee Kuan Yew and who also challenged Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to sue him in an eight-minute YouTube video, has been arrested by the police on Sunday.

At least 20 police reports have been lodged since March 27 against him, when he was believed to have uploaded the video.

One of the people who tipped the police off was lawyer Chia Boon Teck.

He informed the police of the video on Saturday afternoon. The online report included signatures from 11 other complainants.

Chia had written to the Straits Times forum page on Friday, March 27 -- a day before his police report -- arguing that disrespectful comments made against the founding prime minister must not be tolerated and individuals who do so must be taken to task by raising the issue with the relevant authorities or the individuals’ respective professional or governing bodies as there is a limit to freedom of expression.

On Sunday, one reader alerted The Straits Times to yet another police report lodged against the teenager regarding the teenager's posting of obscene material on his blog.

The video, which has been slammed by netizens, is no longer available on his YouTube channel. The blogpost has also been taken down.
