8 reasons why the iPhone 6 is designed for Singaporeans

Apple and Singapore. Made for each other.

Apple finally announced the worst kept secret of the year earlier this morning (Sept 10, 2014): the iPhone 6. Here are seven reasons why iPhone 6 is made for Singaporeans.

1. iPhone 6 comes in two versions

The smaller iPhone 6 sports a 4.7" display while the iPhone 6 Plus comes in a 5.5" display. Because Singaporeans love having options.

2. Big things, we love

Now Apple fans can watch their Korean dramas in 5.5" (1920 x 1080 pixels) glory on the train and continue to not move in and give up seats. No more watching those Samsung Note people having all the fun. The smaller iPhone 6 is not too shabby too, sporting a 1334 x 750 resolution.

3. Near Field Communications Technology

No, it's not military jargon, so don't expect your new iPhone to intercept calls. It's basically a wireless payment method that allows you to store your credit cards in the phone and pay for, say, your groceries at NTUC Fairprice, by tapping it against a sensor. Singaporeans are EZ link card-trained and should face no problems adapting to said technology.

4. Reachability function

Understanding that Singaporeans are typically smaller than Americans, Apple has kindly created a reachability function that will empower people with small hands to use the new iPhone with one hand. Just double tap the home button to roll down the top of the screen. So nice of them.

5. It's faster

Duh, of course it's faster. The iPhone 6 is powered by the A8 chip (whatever that is), so expect your candy to be crushed faster. Apple really knows we are an impatient lot.

6. Powerful cameras

Your #foodporn, #selfies and #ootd will become crystal clear with the improved cameras. The 8 megapixels iSight camera comes equipped with Focus Pixels, which allows faster focus, and a burst mode, which makes the iPhone take 10 photos a second. #multipleseflies anyone?

7. The price is right?

iPhone 6's prices start from $988 (16GB) and iPhone 6 Plus start from $1,148. Not exactly cheap but expensive means good right? You can read us like a book, Apple.

8. Get it here on Sept. 19, 2014

Singapore is amongst nine countries to get the iPhone 6 on Sept. 19, 2014, the earliest available date. We are so honoured! Neighbours, you have or not?

Bonus: The Apple Watch

Tim Cook said that the Watch is "the next chapter in Apple's story" and Singaporeans will see no reason to disagree. The Watch, which comes in two sizes, will pair with your iPhone so you can view messages and apps on your wrist. Mindblown. However, the US$ 349 watch will only be released early next year. Bummer.
