5 reasons why you should never ever fail IPPT

But if you still fail, we understand.

The Individual Physical Proficiency Test or IPPT, which is usually accompanied by a swear word, is now changing its identity.

It was reported in a Straits Times article on Sept. 11, 2014, that the Singapore Armed Forces will start a four-month trial that will bring IPPT Preparatory Training (IPT) closer to the homes and offices of NS Men as soon as next week. IPT is a 9-month voluntary programme for NS men who fail their IPPT.

Hurray, no more traveling to ulu Khatib or Kranji for IPT.

Coupled with the fact that from April next year, NS men will take a much simpler IPPT, here are five reasons why you should never ever fail IPPT again.

1. More locations

In addition to the four existing Fitness Conditioning Centres (FCC), IPT will also be available at The Promontory @ Marina Bay, MOE Co-curricular Activities Branch in Bukit Timah, Jurong Central Park, Bishan Park and Punggol Park. NS men can register and attend the sessions at the new locations next Thursday (Sept. 18, 2014).

2. More timeslots

If NS men are in the mood, they can visit the four FCCs for lunchtime training. This will make it 20 slots for NS men to choose from.

3. Shorter training time

IPT training time will be just 1 hour 15 mins. One word: shiok.

4. Choose the type of training

NS men can choose from a slew of training options such as IPPT specific training (erm), metabolic circuit training (double erm), aerobic threshold training (does that mean must run till we drool?), weight loss training (hmm, can consider) and sports or game-based training (confirm oversubscribed).

5. If she can do it, so can you.
