514 Chai Chee Lane 03-16, Singapore 469029 Travel website TripAdvisor has declared the Singapore Zoo the fifth best zoo in the world.
In an award naming 275 zoos and aquariums in total, the site says its rankings are based on "millions" of user-generated reviews from one year.
The US-based website said in a statement accompanying the announcement of the awards: "The U.S. leads the tally of world lists of zoos and aquariums, with nine of the top 25 zoos (and) 10 of the top 25 world aquariums."
The Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska, was named the world's best. The San Diego Zoo in California comes in second place.
TripAdvisor also said: "Award winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews for zoos and aquariums worldwide, gathered over a 12-month period."
