LOL.

Things took a turn for the funny during a rally held at Hong Lim Park on July 5, 2014, which was organised to question if Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is the right person to lead Singapore.

Mohammed Bashir, 43, one of the eight speakers invited that day to take to his soap box, said that there was no viable opposition in Singapore and as a result, he was unable to finish his speech as the crowd heckled and booed him.

The business owner later told the media he expected the response from the crowd but it would have been better if they heard his entire speech.

The Online Citizen reported:

Some of the attendees to (sic) the event left the park in a fit of anger after hearing what Mr Bashir was saying about PM Lee, while some even went to the front of the mound to ask him to get away.

The Sunday Times quoted Bashir as saying when they interviewed him:

"I'm not surprised that the crowd reacted that way.."

"But I don't see anyone better... now to lead the country."

He added that government policies in areas such as education, health care and defence are "working" and he had benefited from them.

About 200 people turned up for the rally.

Co-organised by Osman Sulaiman, 39, a human resource officer with the National Solidarity Party and William Lim, a taxi driver, the other speakers included former presidential candidate Tan Kin Lian and 17-year-old blogger Ariffin Sha.

Bashir was invited to speak by Osman, who is his close friend.
