We asked STB why they deleted the video. You'll grudgingly believe & not be blown away by their response.

Yeah, that was expected.

In our bid to find out why the Singapore Tourism Board's video promoting Singapore as a tourist destination got deleted from YouTube and Facebook after it went awfully viral on April 7, 2014, Mothership.sg emailed five questions to Oliver Chong, STB executive director for communications and industry marketing.

As a way to follow up on STB's first official response, we queried him about what was their approach to the public reaction when the video started making its rounds, besides obviously asking about who was responsible for making the video and why did it get deleted, among other questions.

This is STB's second official response to the awfully viral video in a statement to Mothership.sg:

We often share our marketing videos on the STB YouTube channel. At the end of its TV run in the Philippines, we decided to also share this particular video on YouTube. We subsequently removed it as it was not resonating well with audiences.

In the meantime, we have found some of the responses and spoofs that have been shared online to be creative and clever. We once again invite the public to share their ideas with us at [email protected].

Mindnotblown.
