What's hot in today's street style
Snapback. That's a cap right?
Obey. That's an adjective?
Not in the up and coming street style, they are not. These words, which I have never heard of a month ago, are ruling street style today.
So what's street style? Street style is largely inspired by the styles of the African-American and skater population. As hip-hop music started to embrace it, street style made its way into mainstream television through channels such as MTV.
Call me a beauty queen but I am definitely more acquainted with the words Sherri and Hill and their oh-so-familiar sequinned styles. The interesting feature about this wave of street style? They are not creations of high fashion labels, but are in fact derived from the fashion of rap stars. Even high fashion labels have to cater to their styles now.
Out of their Grammy suit and tie, these rap stars have churned out a genre of their own in the world of fashion. Check out the ‘real deals’ behind this genre of street style.

Pharrell Williams aka Pharrell
A longtime collector of Louis Vuitton luggages, Pharrell teamed up with the French fashion house to create the label's first ever sunglass collection back in 2005 and fine jewellery line, Blason, in 2008. Supposedly inspired by his world of music, the pieces were adorned with gold and diamonds.

The fashion house was founded by the famous Gabrielle "Coco" Bonheur Chanel. Currently, many street style labels have taken their own spin on her name. Largely responsible for statements such as "Coco made me do it" and "Cocaine & Caviar", street style label Crooks & Castles have also inspired many of today's satirical spinoffs of high fashion label names such as Comme des F*ckdown.
