Korean marketplace Market Blue is hosting two Korean bakeries — Bakery 1946 and St. Geundae Bakery, for a pop-up in Tanglin Mall from Aug. 24 to Sep. 3.
The bakeries hail from Daegu, South Korea, and will have around 55 pastries including Korea's beloved red bean bread and realistic looking fruit-shaped breads during the pop-ups.
Bakery 1946
Bakery 1946 is known for this apple-shaped bun that is made of red rice flour with cream cheese and apple jam filling.
They look hyper-realistic, and to make things more convincing — they are sold in an apple box.
Other realistic looking buns include their Sweet Potato Bread (S$4.50) and Garlic Manju (S$3.90) with white bean paste filling.
They also have Almond Bean Paste Cookie (S$6.90) and Chestnut Manju (S$3.90).
St. Geundae Bakery
The second bakery is known for its red bean bread, which is a loved childhood snack in Korea.
Their bread is filled with handmade red bean paste, and is lower in sugar, according to a representative from Market Blue.
Their signature includes the Original Daegu Sweet Red Bean Bun (S$2.90), and Peanut Crumb Mochi Bun (S$3.60), which has a chewy mochi interior along with the red bean paste.
Another signature to take note of is their Cream Cheese Bun (S$3.60), which is made with soft bread and savoury cream cheese.
Keep an eye out also for their fresh cream red bean bun series, which includes fresh cream, matcha cream and strawberry cream, going at S$4.50 each.
