Car splits into 2 after CTE accident: Another passenger, woman, 26, dies

A 26-year-old male passenger was also pronounced dead at the scene.

A traffic accident along the Central Expressway (CTE), which saw the car involved split into two, has claimed another life.

A 26-year-old female passenger involved in the accident has died, the police confirmed with Mothership on Aug. 22.

Following the accident on Aug. 11, she was conveyed unconscious to the hospital.

Another male passenger, also 26, was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.

The incident

The incident at about 12:10am occurred at the slip road into Seletar West Link along CTE towards Seletar Expressway (SLE).

Police said they believed the car had self-skidded along the slip road.

A video uploaded on TikTok by user "aaaken3" showed that the accident ripped the car into two parts.

The front half of the car ended up on the rightmost lane, facing the road divider, with the driver and passenger seat exposed.

The back seats of the car, along with its rear wheels, were found some distance away.

Police and Singapore Civil Defence Force personnel were also seen at the scene.

The male occupant of the car who was found dead at the scene was reportedly sitting in the back passenger seat, according to Shin Min Daily News.

He was believed to have been been flung out of the vehicle due to the impact.

A male driver, 26, who was found conscious but trapped in the driver's seat, was rescued by SCDF using hydraulic equipment.

He was subsequently conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
