Tesla's CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter on April 1 to announce that Singapore is going to be one of the countries accepting pre-orders for the Tesla Model 3, which is considered a more affordable junior Tesla model.
Adding several more countries to Model 3 order page tonight. Check for details, but will include India, Brazil, SA, SK, NZ, Sing & Ireland.

However, Stuff.TV wrote that the Model 3 will most likely not hit Singapore roads anytime soon.
Production is scheduled to commence in late 2017, which means the first Model 3 won't be roadworthy here until at least 2018.
Interested buyers are required to fork out a US$1,000 deposit to pre-order the car to be assured a Model 3 when it's available.
Though the Model 3 starts from US$35,000, actual selling price in Singapore can be multiples of that as COE has to be factored in and the Land Transport Authority will need to categorise the car first.
This will be Tesla’s first time taking orders for its cars in Singapore, New Zealand, South Korea and India.
Since the Model 3 order page is up, more than 115,000 orders have been taken.
