This steak was cooked beside a HDB lift landing. And it's glorious.

Yummy.

A charcoal-grilled ribeye steak at any half-decent restaurant will set you back at least $30 - $40 bucks.

So what's a man got to do for a good steak without burning a hole in the wallet?

Enter this man - Hardwarezone forum-user 'deodorant' - who prepared his charcoal-grilled ribeye steak himself at the unlikeliest of places.

But before you see the pictures of his awe-inspiring steak and the way he prepares it, hear what he has to say:

"So ... limpeh want to eat steak

But eat outside too expensive

So limpeh buy raw rib eye and wanna cook at home

But cos limpeh chao peasant and stay hdb, no bbq pit

So bbq in the corner of the lift lobby next to the drain"

Here are the pictures of his handiwork:

Forum-user deodorant, you are a magnificent man. Don't stop doing what you do.

Other users are split on his decision, some praised him for his ingenuity and dedication to cooking good steak, others threatened to report him to HDB, and also questioned the level of cleanliness of the area he cooked his steak:

Perhaps this is the best response to all the haters:

If people were more tolerant and understanding, we won't be always waxing lyrical about the lost gotong royong and kampung spirit.
