Based on the night photo, it is obvious which areas in Singapore are bereft of light, as the usual quadrilateral shape of the country has been broken:
The area on the top left is Lim Chu Kang, where the cemeteries are. So, obviously, there is no light there at night.
In the centre is the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, which is the largest of the nature reserves in Singapore occupying over 2,000 hectares of forest cover.
Together with Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, it is home to less than 0.5% of the original primary forest cover that remains today.
The Nee Soon Swamp Forest in the Central Catchment Nature Reserve is where the most significant remaining patch of primary freshwater swamp forest is.
And that other darkened patch in the east is Paya Lebar Air Base, which is devoid of light at night.
Now you know.
