After 4pm today, one of the objectives of the mainstream media was to probably be the first to find out why ex-MP David Ong resigned and what he meant by "personal indiscretion".

This was because Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced the news of Ong's sudden resignation as a People's Action Party (PAP) MP in a note on his Facebook page at 4pm.

It was Lianhe Zaobao who broke the news on this unfortunate matter.

First, they discovered that Ong had committed an extra-marital affair.

Second, they found out who the woman in question was.

According to Lianhe Zaobao, the woman was a Bukit Batok PAP Women's Wing activist named Wendy Lim.

Lim, 41, is married with three children. (Editor's note Mar 12 10:07pm: This is a mistake, we meant to say Ong, 54, is married with three children. It is not known at present if Lim, 41, is married or has children.)

According to Lianhe Zaobao, Lim uploaded many photos of Bukit Batok grassroots events including photos she took with Ong. On nomination day, Lim went to Keming primary school and took a photo with Ong with the placard of Ong's caricature in hand.

Till 630pm today, photos of Lim and Ong were still publicly available but have since been taken down.

ZB reporters tried calling her but to no avail. ZB reporters also tried to visit her at her condominium in the west but could not find her.

*Update at Mar 12 10:29pm: According to Channel NewsAsia, the woman who is supposedly involved with Ong is a "PAP member and grassroots volunteer, and an executive at a logistics firm." CNA reported that the woman's husband complained about the affair which is believed to have gone on for approximately six months. Channel NewsAsia did not name who this woman was.*
