The first child of Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema was delivered safely on Friday and is reportedly healthy.
Known for her elfin beauty, Queen Pema, who is 26, married the King in 2011 in a lavish ceremony that was also the biggest media event in Bhutanese history.
Educated in Britain and United States, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck was crowned in 2008 in the 100th year of monarchy in the country and is the fifth Druk Gyalpo, or Dragon King.
His father abdicated from the throne two years earlier.
He remains hugely popular in the country with a population of 750,000 people and traditionally known for being the happiest country in Asia, if not the world.
