The internet has named its latest good Samaritan, a SMRT bus captain who goes by the name of 'Ramasamy K.'
According to a Facebook status posted by Chelsey Chow yesterday (Jan.26), Ramasamy not only returned her laptop with its contents unscathed, but also fought off (not physically) a would-be thief who attempted to scurry off with a valuable prize.
Here are the intricacies of the full story, in as little words as possible:
Polytechnic student faces the harsh world of projects with impending deadlines.
Student leaves laptop on bus 61, and does not realise for a whole 20 mins.
Student loses hope in world, resigned for laptop to become nothing but a distant memory, forever cursed to oblivion.
Meanwhile, middle-aged marauder attempts to steal laptop, foiled by Defender of all things precious Sir Ramasamy K, who threatens him with police action.
Sir Ramasamy K returns laptop to student, becomes poster boy for bus 61 and the lower echelon of SMRT staff.

And, of course, this a good chance for SMRT to score some social media brownies.
Thank you Sir Ramasamy K, we hope SMRT rewards you well (even though some people may just say you are 'just doing your job').
After all, SMRT's bus profits rose by 845 per cent, no?
*This story did not include the phrase 'faith in humanity restored' because someone tried to steal the laptop. Always remember, altruism is not a substitute for the mindfulness of personal belongings.
