Compass Point will be renamed as 1 Sengkang Mall when it re-opens next year with a new look.
The shopping centre said on its Facebook page on Tuesday, Dec. 22 that the name has been approved by Government authorities.

Initially, in a bit of a confusion, Compass Point said in a Facebook post that the mall was renamed as Sengkang Mall before updating the post and amending it to "1 Sengkang Mall" at about 10am on Wednesday.
"1 Sengkang Mall" was apparently the winning name chosen in a "Give us our new name" contest held from Oct. 15 to Oct. 30.
The winner, a woman, walked away with a S$1,000 cash prize for her creativity.
The mall had narrowed down its list of suggested names to eight choices, which were full of surprises.
The other options were: Sengkang Central Mall, One Sengkang, Sengkang Square, One Sengkang Square, Sengkang One, #1 Sengkang Square and 1SM.
Singaporeans have offered nothing but praise for the name change.
The comment thread in the Compass Point Facebook post drew out the widespread appreciation:
However, some speculated that the name change could be due to a change in mall management:
If I'm not wrong shopping center that ended with "point" is under Fraser. I heard that after compass point renovation done will take over by capitaland and capitaland end with "Mall" :)
The mall shut for renovations on Oct. 25 and Frasers Centrepoint said it will re-open in a year "with a strong mix of retailers, more educational facilities and an increased selection of food and beverages options".
But all these will not match up to its new awesome name.
