On Monday morning at about 10am, we saw a man on the train.
He boarded at Ang Mo Kio MRT station, in the train at the middle platform, and was seated at the centre of a row of seven students from Pathlight School:
It was a bit hard for us to spot him at first, but there were lots of flashbulbs going off in the carriage.
This made us think he might be a pop star, actor or an important person... who could stop things in their tracks.
A powerful man, no doubt, for he singlehandedly made this section of the train quite crowded for an off-peak period — there were many people wearing lanyards standing around him.
There was at least one person with a notebook, a camera hanging from her neck and a phone in her hand, too. We also spotted a man carrying a large video camera on his shoulder.
We also happened to notice this train was specially decorated.
There were Christmas tree decorations on the side panels, as well as reindeer antler and Christmas hat stickers pasted on the windows.
And what's that in their hands?

All of a sudden, a group of carollers burst into song nearby. They were all dressed up in festive colours, and before we knew it, song sheets were handed out to the group of people seated in that row.
Wow. Such timing. Many precision. Much coincidence.
And out of nowhere, a young man came up with a stack of Christmas-tree-shaped hanging flyers and handed out marker-drawn sketches of the boys' faces.
After taking photos with them, holding them up, the man proceeded to sign his own, followed by the boys' portraits: A sign of the man's standing in society, perhaps?
We asked one of the people who were wearing lanyards, and were told this was a Christmas celebration.
The ability to transport the kids to a Christmas celebration? A confirmation of the man's power.
But... we still can't figure out who he is.
The Pathlight students seemed to, though — when he showed them his sketched portrait and asked them, "Who is this?", they chorused almost immediately, "Minister Khaw!"
