Food is abundant. Especially in Singapore, it's all around us. Turn left and you see food. Turn right and you see more food. Close your eyes and once you open them, voila, food.

Yet, you're going to be doing heck of a lot of jostling if you and your kakis plan to attend rallies in the coming two weeks, so the adage "if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail" will really apply here.

So we shall help you plan — where to eat! Because everyone knows food is most important.

You'll also need to head home after the rally, and for that, we strongly advise against waiting for taxis or trying to get Uber or GrabCarsas they'll very likely be few and far between. Public transport is the way to go.

Without further ado, for rally sites in the North:

Rally location 1: Field in front of Blk 982 Buangkok Crescent

Makan locations:

Located relatively near IMH, the rally venue at Buangkok Cresent seems somewhat obscure for those who don’t live near the area. There's a Shop & Save nearby where you can stock up on H20, snacks and wet tissues before the rally begins.

We're told there exists Yi Jia Buangkok Eating House located just a minute away from Buangkok Crescent, and they serve pretty decent fare for those more particular about what they’d like to eat. If you're coming from Buangkok MRT Station, eat dinner there before making your way down to the venue.

Directions: The journey takes about 26 minutes, according to Google Maps. Take bus 43 from Buangkok Station towards Upp East Coast Terrace and alight 4 stops later at Block 911, then walk 550m to your destination.

Rally location 2: Yio Chu Kang Stadium

Source: Google Street View Source: Google Street View

Makan locations:

If you want to have a hearty meal before the rally begins, pop by Sakura International Buffet at Yio Chu Kang. They have a wide variety of seafood, meats and vegetables for you to feed a thousand people; a rather decent spread of cuisine, too – from Japanese to Thai to Asian delights.

Want something else? Several smaller kopitiams around the area such as AMK 628 market or the kopitiam at AMK Street 61. There’s always Ang Mo Kio (AMK) Hub, which is about 1.5km away if you’re going to be travelling from AMK station too. There you can find a variety of cuisine, from chain outlets to local fares.

Directions: Close eyes and walk also can reach. From Yio Chu Kang MRT station, head northwest toward Ang Mo Kio Ave 9 for about 300m and turn right onto Ang Mo Kio Ave 9. Destination should be on your right. If you’re unable to find the area, Google Maps is your best friend.

Rally location 1: Bishan Stadium

Makan locations:

Bishan MRT Station is just a short walk away. There you'll find Junction 8 – a haven for air-con (number 1 priority), food and shopping. Outlets like Din Tai Fung, Nando’s and Dian Xiao Er are sure to put you in a food coma before heading to the rally.

If you're seeking supper, hop on bus 410 to Upper Thomson Road, where midnight foodies go to chill. There’s Meng’s Kitchen Bak Chor Mee, the Roti Prata House and even Salted Caramel. No award-winning orh luak here, sorry to report, but definitely something to keep you satisfied.

Rally location 2: Toa Payoh Stadium

Makan locations:

If you fancy dinner before the rally begins, there’s Astons (we hear it’s slightly cheaper than the outlets in town) or Toast Box over at SAFRA Toa Payoh, about 200m away. You can also grab a bite at the numerous coffee shops or food outlets at Toa Payoh Central.

After the rally, there’s a 24-hour Macdonald’s at SAFRA, which has a drive-in too!
