Should there only be English players in the Barclay's Premier League (BPL)?
Our experience playing Football Manager tells us that since the 2010/2011 season, English football clubs must be made up of at least eight home-grown players in a squad of 25.
Pretty protectionist, most of you would argue.
But what if the situation cuts a little closer to home? Should there only be Singaporeans in the Singapore workforce? Is that protectionist?
While playing in the BPL and working in the Singapore workforce are not exactly the same thing, both – however – have the same basis: Attracting good talents while protecting the livelihood of Singaporeans.
Do we have double standards? You might just be surprised.
